Due to the excellent climate of Granitis, the construction of a sanatorium began in 1929 for the care of patients suffering from the deadly disease of the time. Although ten years later the construction of the basement and the frame works of the 1^st floor finished and the building was inaugurated, the project was not completed and the sanatorium never opened its doors to the public.
