Lefkogeia Dam - Ash Monday “Koulouma”

A must-visit place is the earthen dam that was built to irrigate the plain of Lefkogeia, as well as the entire basin area. The dam resulted in the formation of the beautiful lake of Lefkogeia that made the landscape impossible to recognize, since nature endowed this place with unsurpassed beauty and invaluable natural wealth. Every year on Ash Monday people celebrate the end of the Carnival and the beginning of the Lent with “koulouma”. The Cultural Association of the village cooks bean soup which people eat along with a particular kind of azyme bread called lagana and tarama salad.
