Just a little farther from Dasoto, en route to the Greek-Bulgarian borders, we come by the Kastania Forest, an enchanting place, with the majesty of chestnut trees and a rich variety of vegetation, specially designed to welcome the large numbers of hikers,  that has established it as the perfect place for May Day!

Then, going up the winding turns, we arrive at a lush area named "The cold water", covered with broad-leaved plane trees, with its own spring, very dear to the locals, who honor it at every given opportunity. Nearby is the abandoned outpost of Stragkats, another quite popular landscape for nature lovers. This picturesque village, with its few left inhabitants, is surrounded by many beautiful chapels, such as the chapel of Agia Kyriaki on a small hill in the west of the village, the chapels of the Holy Spirit, Agios Nikolaos, Agios Georgios and Zoodochos Pigi (Life-giving Spring).
